Today started out early with what was to become a very long day. We met the other family for breakfast at 7:30 AM. Then we were in the van at 8:30 to finalize the adoption at the Civil Affairs office. While we were waiting for the adoption decree paperwork, Annie actually slid off Alaina's lap to briefly play with a toy. This is the first time she got down from her lap on her own accord. After about 20 minutes, we received her adoption decree and certificate. Dang Li Jie is officially ours!

After we returned to the hotel to drop off the other family, we left in the van for Nanyang to visit the orphanage and apply for her passport. Nanyang is about a 3 1/2 drive away from Zhengzhou. We arrived at the orphanage at about 1:00 PM. The orphanage officials were very gracious to show us her beginnings. We met the nannies that work there and were very excited to see Li Jie! It became evident very quickly that she was well loved.

After getting pictures and talking with the nannies, we left to apply for her passport. By this time Annie had enough. She was tired, hungry and ready to be out of the car. Let's just say we have a VERY teary official passport photo.

We made a quick stop for food, gas and potty then were on our way back to Zhengzhou - another 3-and-a-half hours. About midway home, we suddenly pulled to the side of the interstate-like road to change a flat tire! After our delay and traffic getting in to Zhengzhou, we arrived back at the hotel around 7:30 PM.

After a meal of grits and cheerios and some play time, she is now bathed and snuggling with Alaina before bed.

Annie Observations

• She LOVES to be held and will only tolerate it from Alaina

• She likes to give kisses. She even gave a few to Dan on the way home.

• She can be very playful and giggly, especially at bed time.

Prayer Requests:

• Annie will only receive comfort from Alaina. Pray she can receive these things from Dan as well.
