How Annie

Became a Wilson

Travel Journal

March 25, 2013

What a difference a day makes! Today was by far our best day yet. After a quick morning trip to the local notary office, we were on our own for the rest of the day. It was cooler today, so we opted to stay close to our room. (Cool is relative, as it's warmer here than at home, but much colder for our Florida travel mates.)

Annie is very comfortable in our room, and we're noticing that we'll have quite a bit more baby-proofing to do when we get home. Dayna never really got into anything, so we never had to do too much with her. Because we weren't on the go, we were able to really stick to Annie's schedule.

She slept for 3 hours this afternoon before we finally woke her up. During this time, Dayna and her Daddy worked on her Bible Study lesson and some journaling. Alaina discovered the joy of doing laundry in a hotel bathtub. She was incredibly thankful for Dan's help with the second "load.". We have utilized every possible space for hanging clothes. We figure it will probably take about 2 days for everything to dry.

After the long nap, we all went to the hotel pool. Annie was a bit hesitant at first, but soon, she was having a blast. We found a ping pong ball in the pool and she had fun chasing it around. She was way more comfortable at 19 months with her first pool experience than Dayna was when she was 5. She was even wanting to float on her back and kick her legs.

We had dinner at Mamma Mia's, the Italian restaurant in the hotel. It was okay...expensive (we spent 54 RMB on water...$9.00 USD), but just okay. Probably the only time we'll be going there.

After dinner, Alaina "disappeared" to the exercise center for some alone time while Dan & Dayna took Annie for a walk to see how she'd do without her Mom. All is well with the world.

Because we had a quieter day, we really got to see more of Annie's personality develop. She wasn't quite as stubborn today. A really sweet, funny side was shining through. She's kept us all entertained as she copies what we do. And when she starts talking, she sounds like a little parrot. We're not sure what she's saying, but it sure sounds funny!

Dayna is really stepping it up as jie jie, or big sister. we can't begin to tell you how sweet it is to watch them play together, or to watch her feed Annie.

Prayer Requests:

• Dayna is having some tummy troubles.

• Annie is still congested and very snuffly.

Praises:

• A really good day together.

• Heightened appreciation for our washer and dryer at home.

• A good internet connection today. (We won't take that for granted, so our website is still a better way to reach us than Facebook.)
