"Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west." - Isaiah 43:5

What a long, exciting, exhausting day this has been! We woke up at 3:00 am Central time, and finally hit our hotel at about 7:00 pm Beijing time (translate 6:00 am the next day in Nebraska). In the meantime, we’ve each slept between three and four hours. The good news is that when we crash here in a little bit, it’s already bedtime in China.

God has put several people in our path today to encourage us. On our flight from Omaha to Denver, we sat next to a woman flying to California to meet her brand new grandbaby, adopted just three weeks ago. From San Francisco to Beijing, we sat between two couples; one went to Siberia with their daughter when she adopted and the other couple has two grandchildren from Guatemala.

We’ve only had two stressful situations today: we didn’t have a seat assignment to Beijing until they were halfway done boarding the plane, then we discovered we were waiting in the wrong place for the hotel shuttle to pick us up at the Beijing Airport.

All is well now…we’re staying in a wonderful hotel, the Sino-Swiss Hotel, with a two-story room, two bathrooms, and a GIANT bathtub! This is a major victory for Alaina after being on and off airplanes for 27 hours. (Okay, Alaina doesn’t need a reason to rejoice in a large bathtub!)

Not too many pictures today…we want to save room for the fun pictures later this weekend! Two more days, sweetie! Here we come.
