"Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west." - Isaiah 43:5

Our apologies to you now for the tardiness of tonight’s post. We’re actually writing it earlier than usual, but that’s due to a delay of Xiamen Airlines flight 8325 from Fuzhou to Guangzhou. Our driver Shao dropped us off with Leila at about 4:00 pm. Leila’s flight left at 5:20 and we’re still sitting here at 7:00. We think we’re in for a long night!

Our day, however, led us to a few new discoveries and some precious “down” time for all of us. Dayna’s “problem” of the last few days seems to have resolved itself. Like the Energizer bunny, she just keeps going and going and going. After breakfast, Dan went back to the grocery store for more diapers. Meanwhile, Alaina and Dayna had a ball playing in the hotel room. In fact, Dayna enjoyed it so much, she went down for a LONG morning nap (3 ˝ hours!) While she slept, the older Wilsons got our bags packed and waited for her to wake up.

Upon waking, we finally had our little birthday party for Dayna. She enjoyed a few bites of a chocolate Little Debbie cake. Unfortunately, she couldn’t really make a big mess with it because she’s not feeding herself. Then she opened her presents! Hooray for more bath toys and stacking cups! In fact, those stacking cups have been keeping Dayna (and her Daddy) entertained on the airport floor for about an hour now.

At 2:00, we checked out of our hotel and went to the police station to get Dayna’s Chinese passport. While we were waiting, the two other families who received their children the same day we did also arrived. One family is from the Netherlands and have the sweetest 2-year-old boy with cleft lip and palate. The other family lives in South Carolina, and are Chinese. Their little one is from the same orphanage as Dayna, and it was fun to see the two connect with each other again.

From the police station, we went to the airport, and that’s the rest of today’s story. A few little milestones: 1) Dayna now lifts her arms to be held, and more often than not, she’s asking for her Daddy to do the holding; 2) Alaina is becoming quite adept at getting a reluctant baby to sleep; 3) Dayna’s attachment to her Mom grows stronger…a little bit ago, Dan took her for a walk through the airport; when they returned, Dayna squealed with delight when she saw her Mommy. She sure is awfully cute! (Dayna, not Mommy)

To the teachers and students back in Omaha, enjoy your last day of school! Blessings to you all.
